I just saw a post on Facebook from Charlie Kirk about Rafael Nadal going down with chest pains. Very recent, so may not be corroborated.
The claim is that Nadal “pushed his body too hard”.
Women’s Final is over. Men’s Final is Sunday.
Don’t know who the fifteen are but the following, all top ten players did have issues.
Italian Yanick Sinner withdrew from his match claiming he had blisters.
Spanish Paula Badosa was definitely having breathing problems in at least three of her matches. She was visibly bending over and gasping for breath before she withdrew.
Belarusian, Victoria Azarenka left in the middle of a match, citing stress and personal problems. She later said, she tried to play but shouldn’t have been there.
Russian Danill Medvedev, called for a medical timeout saying he felt like a “fish on a sofa.” I took that as he was having trouble breathing. It should be mentioned the UK is considering not allowing him to play Wimbledon unless he denounces Russia.
Rafa Nadal did not play in the Miami Open due to an injury at Indian Wells. He will be out at least 4 to 6 weeks. During the finals he also had to have a medical timeout. Doctors have found a rib injuryin his chest. During the match he kept rubbing his left chest and was definitely in distress as he was playing about 50% at the most.
