Good Grief!
Full tanks for a 3 hour flight? Did I read that right?
That is some lousy fuel mileage.
There is a fungus that grows in diesel fuels. There us an additive we used in Jet-A called Prist that is supposed to prevent the growth.
I’ve had my tractor fuel line plugged up with the junk after it sat for like a year or two.
What is diesel fuel fungus?
What is diesel bug? Diesel bug is a single microorganism or a consortium (group) of microorganisms that grow on fuels. It includes bacteria, filamentous moulds and yeasts. They feed on the hydrocarbons in the fuel and create biomass, biofilms and damaging by-products.
Thanks for letting me know.
Give me Boeing, or I ain’t going.
“ they even opened up a biofuel production plant in China based to ensure a consistent supply.”
What could go wrong?
Say what? Note to Boeing: this kind of thinking hasn't worked out very well for Germany.
But just think of all those Chinese Restaurants there!..............
First Rule of Civilization:
DO NOT BURN YOUR FOOD FOR FUEL....................
Boeing is not not what it used to be since moving corporate headquarters from Seattle to Chicago.
Just think of ALL those Chinese restaurants! They will never run out of materials!...............
I was somewhere out west and needed diesel fuel. All that was available was biofuel.
It ran well with no problem.
It will run in most instances, but it must be CLEAN diesel with all glycerin removed to be used in MODERN PIEZO ELECTRIC INJECTORS, else it will clog up and you will have a huge repair bill.
Old MECHANICAL injectors, pre-millennium, it doesn’t matter, it will work either way.
So, be aware of the source of the biodiesel...........
That was a onetime occurrence. For a while in my 16 year ownership, the pumps here all said may be bio added. That has gone away now
I have often wondered why a Diesel-Electric hybrid wasn’t the standard.
All modern locomotives work this way. Diesel-electric hybrids have been around for many decades in the railroad industry, and the biggest mfr of all was General Motors!..............
