<<>> Russian rock band faces resistance over anti-war stance
The letter “Z” has become a staunchly pro-war symbol of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, sported by politicians, athletes and others.
BBC Russian reports that anti-war rock band DDT were set to perform at an auditorium in the central city of Tyumen, only to find “a huge letter Z” had been drawn inside the hall.
The group’s founder and lead singer Yuri Shevchuk – who has spoken out against the war and Vladimir Putin several times – told a local journalist the group had refused to play at the site.
He added that DDT had picked another site, without the letter Z, but had not been allowed to perform there either.

ДДТ is one of the better known and most prolific Russian bands, active from 1980 to the present.
<> A couple of their songs that I have enjoyed...
“In The Last Autumn” is about the singer, Yuri Shevchuk, and his wife Elmira, who had just died of cancer at the age of 24.
The verse that mentions Alexander Sergeevich (Pushkin) is actually Shevchuk asking the poet, who seemed to have said over the course of his career just about everything that the Russian soul needed to say, why even he had written no words that could soften or express the grief of their “final autumn” together.

Snorkeling tomorrow!
I have to rethink my diving. Not only do I need to figure out my equipment, but I may just not be physically fit to crawl in and out of surf with equipment. I don’t know if the cost of eqiuipment, either repaired or replaced, could be justified with the number of dives I have left in me.
BUT, I have had +50 GREAT dives, no accidents. I am happy with that.
Snorkeling and floating while reading will be nice.
