"You will own nothing and you will be happy."

This is the future. Optional equipment on cars will be built-in and can be accessed via a subscription service.

Software companies started his crap. Yearly subscription costs for virus software and then on to regular applications software like Office 365.

I would never buy a car where you had to rent the heating and AC already built into it. I’ll bet you almost anything that if you did ‘rent’ it and the AC compressor went out they sure as hell wouldn’t cover it in warranty after the initial time/miles warranty ran out.

It doesn't seem as if there is a public consciousness about what smart tech, internet of things, AI etc, coupled with evil will bring. Every detail of life will be monitored.

A satellite will track the number and source of the calories we consume. Sitting alone in a windowless locked room and saying a wrong word will have consequences.

Social credit scores and passing mandatory, social pop-quizzes will be deadly serious.

Totalitarians in the past could not conceive of the hell that will now be unleashed.

Satellite radio works exactly like that now. Anyone who is offended by this notification is a fricking liberal.

"You will own nothing and you will be happy."

I wonder at the small print on my new car purchase wherein I go in for what should be a covered warranty repair and they look up the computer record and say I drove too fast, started or breaked too fast, or something to void the warranty repair.

Or, even more likely, tie use of my car to a social value score or the government's desire to lock me down at home.

Optional equipment on cars will be built-in and can be accessed via a subscription service.

So if a few million people opt not to subscribe to having these so called options in their cars, all that equipment, parts, labor, energy and resources to install all this in these vehicles, is all wasted?

I find this hard to believe.

My 12 year old Toyota is going to get even better maintenance from now on.

No Satellite radio, no internet connected anything.

My old droid phone has a removable battery too.

I have an alarm system built into my truck. I have to pay hundreds of dollars to unlock it.
