You are SO right. We are talking about a group of people (those seeking and/or holding elected office) who as a whole are ‘chock-full’ of narcissists who seek public office not to serve, but to ‘elevate’ themselves (however much that is a joke in elected office these days). There are exceptions, but generally these are really an unimpressive group of people, and thus capable of all manner of disappointing behavior.
