Some Republican legislators in Florida are considering punishing Walt Disney World for taking a public stand against the so-called 'Don't Say Gay' bill by repealing a 55-year law that allows the company to govern itself.
Florida House Rep. Spencer Roach tweeted on Wednesday that lawmakers held two meetings this week to discuss revoking the 1967 Reedy Creek Improvement Act, which he said 'allows Disney to act as its own government.'
Spencer, a Republican, added: 'If Disney wants to embrace woke ideology, it seems fitting that they should be regulated by Orange County.'
The 1967 act, which was signed by then-Gov Claude Kirk, a Republican, created the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which encompasses about 25,000 acres in Orange and Osceola counties.
The district is governed by its 19 landowners, the biggest of them being Disney World. It is responsible for overseeing land use and providing essential public services, including fire protection, emergency medical services, water services, electricity, sanitation. The district also operates and maintains all public roads and bridges.

“If discussion is not banned, why are the activists so against this law?”
They want more than discussion.
Boycott Disney. They should be worried about their waters not having alligators in them that can kill children.
Disneyland in California has a similar accommodation.
I enjoyed the time being Gay was like being in Fight Club.....don’t talk about it.....
“Well I see right there how Disney will say “FU” on that.”
They have already said that.
Disney wants everyone to believe the plastic rat is invincible.
And if people believe the plastic rat is invincible, then he is invincible.
If people don’t believe the plastic rat is invincible, then he is not invincible.
Serious conversation in the legislature about curbing the plastic rat will have beneficial results.
Disney can shape up, or ship out. Either would be beneficial to Florida.
Organizations like Disney and the NCAA are long overdue for a serious smack down. They have gotten waaay too big for their britches.
The plastic rat is invincible. “Don’t mess with the Mouse” was one of the rules of the entertainment industry, and central Florida life, in the 90s. And they’re way more powerful now than they were then. Like I said in the part you didn’t bother to quote, this deal gives Disney freedom and responsibility, take away the freedom dump the responsibility. Florida GOP needs to be ready for that. In like 15 years after all the lawsuits settle. If they win.
Come groom my children Fag apologist!
I’ll show you some throat action!
“Some people are prone to exaggeration, in my opinion.”
You might even call them “drama queens”.
Parents that believe this need to keep quite I reckon. Same with legislators.
Just march your children to Disney and surrender them.
A better option is to resist for as long as we can.
“Are we supposed to believe this story or not, or is it only anything to do with Ukraine?”
You are only supposed to believe press releases from TASS, Pravda, or people who post anonymously on 4chan and 8kun under a single letter pseudonym.
They already won. Resistance is nothing more than virtue signaling. You keep not paying attention to the meat of what I said. You should actually bother to READ it and UNDERSTAND it. That’s part of how The Mouse always wins, they structure deals so that it’s all upside for them. If they don’t have total control of the land Florida will have to pay through the nose.
“It is a relentless twisting of the truth.”
It’s Goebbels’ actual “big lie” strategy in action.
Nope Disneyland does not have a self governing right like Disney world does
“Why do they have to go out of their way to “punish” their political enemies.”
Seriously? You want us to ease up on the commies that are destroying our civilization just because we got one bill passed in one state that ticks them off?
Make it a property tax, not an income or revenue tax. :-)
If you control the government, what’s the fear. You merely dismiss every one of their proposals.
It seems people think you have to pound on the table if you have power. It’s the opposite.
