If you get a text message that looks to be from yourself, don't click on it. That's the sage advice of experts and of Verizon, which has received numerous complaints about customers getting spam text messages that seem to come from their own phone numbers.

Verizon's community [customer?] forum includes a thread published on Sunday that details a recent increase in "spoof" texts informing recipients that they've paid their March bill and can get a free gift by clicking a link.

"We can't block ourselves..........what's the solution Verizon?" asked one customer of the wireless giant.

Just got a call from a fellow with a heavy Indian accent who wanted to sell me a burial plan.

Not on an iPhone. It just shows "delivered" next to the text you send yourself. So it's more like a note pad.

Got exactly this text, Verizon, iPhone, "from" my own number, last night.

Didn't click. Showed my wife, in case she gets one. Deleted it.

I never respond because I know how boring I am to talk to or correspond with.

How to get rid of telemarketing.
Owners get 500k fine and 10 years in federal prison.
Manager get 250k fine and 5 years in federal prison.

Perhaps. I’m Verizon and no “echo”. My wife is T-mobile and she DOES get the echo you describe.

We solved it I think. T-Mobile for me as well, and I get both out and in.
