Betty White's $7.9 million Carmel Home Goes on Sale

Betty White's Carmel home has been listed at $7.95 million after the actor's death in December.

The home, located at 2625 Ribera Road, Carmel, has four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. Located on a 0.3-acre lot, the house is 3,621 square feet and was built in 1981.

The home was built for Betty White and her husband Allen Ludden, but they only lived there for a few months before Ludden died. According to reports, the plot of land was purchased for $170,000 in 1978 by the couple.

The three-story manor boasts awe-inspiring views of Monastery Beach, the Pacific Ocean and Point Lobos.

“As revered as Betty White’s public image was in real life, she was a private person. Betty’s home in Carmel was her special sanctuary and it was one of her favorite places to recharge and rejuvenate," said Nicole Truszkowski, with Sotheby’s International Realty – Carmel Brokerage.

I went to an open house of a place two doors' down about ten years ago. It's on the South of the Carmel River, across from Clint Eastwood's mission ranch. Amazing view.

A view of my favorite dive site out your front window.
Hard to get better than that.

“The three-story manor ...”

That’s not a “manor,” it’s a tasteful, if outdated, beach house only about 50% bigger then my house, which does not have those views.

God, they live on top of each other. They did not show much of the house. Nothing special. Just a regular house.

Tax basis gets stepped up to date of death value. No capital gain tax.

Most likely is in a trust. Tax is treated differently.

The decorating inside is kind of colorless and ugly. The outside is beautiful.
