Chris Rock's may have landed himself in hot water with Oscar bosses as his joke about Jada Pinkett Smith was reportedly unvetted before the live show.
The comedian, 57, was slapped in the face by Jada's husband Will, 53, after he stormed on stage when Chris jokingly compared her haircut to G.I. Jane.
A source told Us Weekly that Chris initially rehearsed his speech with no mention of Jada. The insider added: 'Will was not in attendance for [the] rehearsal.'
While on stage, Chris said: 'Jada, GI Jane 2, I can't wait to see it', which prompted Will to step on stage and slap him before he shouted: 'Keep my wife's name out of your f******g mouth'.
Jada has been open about her struggle with hair loss due to alopecia. In December she posted a video where she pointed out a patch of baldness.
Now at this point, I can only laugh. Y'all know I've been struggling with alopecia and just all of a sudden one day, look at this line right here,' she said in the Instagram clip.
'Now this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide, so I thought I'd just share it so y'all not asking any questions — but you know, mama's going to put some rhinestones in there, and I'm going to make me a little crown.'

My money is on Rock.Not the first time that Rock and Jada Pinkett Smith have clashed over his comments at the Oscars. When Rock hosted in 2016 and Pinkett Smith was boycotting the event over the “Oscars So White” controversy, Rock joked at the event, “Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited.”
Now, that’s funny!!
After a slap like that, can we expect a duel? Swords at dawn?
Here’s why I think it was fake.
When a man misses his cool he doesn’t usually get up, walk a distance, slap another guy and walk away.
If you’re that mad you keep hitting or you grab and wrestle him down.
And likewise, when another man hauls of and punches you, at the very least you grab him and wrestle him down.
Either way, the physical acting out and the cursing was a terrible message to young people.
And I didn’t see the movie but when Will Smith wins best actor, the film industry is not doing well.
I like Will Smith movies, but leading actor?

When you get an opponent to react, you keep going. Each time Will Smith subsequently opened his mouth I would have twisted the rope another turn. I however think the whole thing was staged. Chris Rock didn’t even get slapped when I run it in slo-mo. He stage rolled with Smiths swing.
