Russia is losing as the Ukrainian coutnerattacks appear to have no signs of stopping. At the moment, we are currently facing Russian bot attacks, so please bear with us as we may have to shut of the chat for tonight. The Ukrainians have covered large amounts of ground over the past few days, and with escalating tensions between the west and the east it is uncertain where this could go at the moment.

How is Kherson offensive going? They first said recaptured on March 25 and then on every next day. Except nothing happens. The same is true about other phony offensives.

Like Vietnam its not a matter of winning or losing. its a matter of stomach. How much stomach do you have to take out the population. The Russians can mow down every person standing. And they can do it without losing any of their own. But what is there left. I think they are hoping to have a country with people who like Russians. Kill or science those who don’t. Russians aren’t losing. They are just finding it harder than they would have wished.

Things have changed since WW2 yet Russia is still more like the USSR than any other country.

It’s indirect evidence to me how WW2 would have played out between Germany and the USSR without the Allies pumping in mountains of weapons, equipment and opening a 2nd, 3rd even 4th front (med-France-Air War-Naval War).

The USSR would have had their butts kicked by Germany. Despite 70 years of first communist propaganda then Russian. The Russian bear is mostly a big scary looking animal that is weak and rotten on the inside and has been since WW1.

But it has nukes.

Where is the proof that Russia is losing? This is just a propaganda title. The video on youtube does not provide evidence that Russia is “losing”.

Besides, the real enemy of the world is the Clinton/Obama/Biden axis of evil regime. That’s what needs to lose.

“ The Russians can mow down every person standing. And they can do it without losing any of their own”

Actually, they are taking heavy casualties - the highest rate of Russian losses in any conflict since WWII. Already, in just one month, they have had more Russians killed than in all of the years of their two wars in Chechnya.

At this rate, during the second month, they will surpass the total killed in a decade in Afghanistan - which many argue was a significant factor in the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Dunno about losing. The west started talking about human rights abuses and the next day we get videos of AZOV shooting Russian kneecaps off.

Havent seen any pics of Russia in a shambles yet. Pics from Ukraine looks like a country being reduced to rubble. Imagine what is not being shown. Why?

********************************************************************

I don’t doubt that about the AZOV. They never mastered the details of “how to make friends and influence people”. The other day a FReeper posted a video from a British reporter from inside Mariupol. He did a video recording as he “toured” a school that the Ukrainian defenders had used as a fighting position but had now abandoned. Among discarded uniforms and equipment, the Ukrainians also left behind the naked dead body of a (likely ethnic Russian) young woman. They had marked a swastika onto her abdomen. If they can’t escape, these AZOV members will likely fight to their deaths because they surely know there are many locals who would love to get some payback for the years of abuse and murders.

The proof is Kiev has not been taken, and the Ukrainian government is still functioning, and not under the thumb of Russia.

For Russia to lose, Ukraine needs merely to survive.

Because the media is sensitive to “old ladies” that would complain and raise the roof if the carnage of war were actually shown on TV.

By sanitizing the images of human carnage, the media makes it possible to keep a current war going while setting public acceptance of future wars. That tactic makes it possible for many to say a war is not real, the images are photoshopped or movie sets, and the soldiers are actors in costume.

There are now many people who view nuclear war as just another sort of war with different named weapons and no big deal - that’s not an uncommon view since the desensitization to mass death has been reduced to CGI images in some superhero movie.

Many people have lost any connection to reality and to what nuclear war would mean for them and their families - to the extent they imagine they would survive and life would go on with little changes, just a few added inconveniences perhaps - which they would complain mightily about to whoever would listen.

Another personal attack to deflect? If Ze is in Kiev why does he use chromakey backgrounds for his videos?

There is an interesting thing about “any conflict since WW2”.

Russia hasn’t fought a real military since WW2.

Hungary 1956 - they fought against civilians

Czechoslovakia 1968 - the same

Afghanistan in 1979 - fighting against an insurgency

Chechnya 1st and 2nd wars - fighting against an insurgency in a tiny country

Georgia 2008 - that might be the only one against an actual military, but Georgia is a country of 3.8 million.

I could be wrong but I seem to remember few is any actual regular troops were used - it was mostly the Wagner Group or mercenaries

I think you’re mixing it up with Eastern Ukraine 2014. That was largely mercenaries and deniables with regulars coming in at key moments.

For Georgia they made a large scale drill at the border and then rode in with the regulars participating in this drill.

Even the Dombassistan and Luganda in Eastern Ukraine aren’t that irregular as they are still commanded by Russian officers, key jobs are staffed by Russian soldiers and supplied by the Russian army.

Yeah, me, too! I'm getting bored already! How much longer do the valiant Ukrainian freedom fighters expect me to wait here, on my couch, a bowl of Cheetos propped on my belly, for the war-porn footage to come onto the tv screen!

/ mordant sarcasm

Could be but the TV news called it Georgia.

I watch part of the Enforcer every night he’s on. Tonight will be the first night he doesn’t stream since the start of the war. He admits where there is little or no news coming out about a given area.

However, the map he has been showing is very similar to what Western sources, other OSINT sources and the Russian Defense Minister have shown. Kiev drive stalled. Russian advances in the south. Small advances in the east. Localized counter attacks by the Ukrainian forces.

He hypothesizes the the Ukrainian counter attacks are going well because of the dearth of Russian videos showing their successes. He also hypothesizes the Ukrainians do not publish their own videos in case it would allow Russians to geo-locate them. For example: One guy showed pictures of his formation near a mall and then that mall was flattened.

If both sides are saying the Russian attack has stalled, I’d tend to believe the Russian attack has stalled. Parallels to Finland in WWII.
