The Los Angeles Police Department confirms to Variety that Chris Rock has “declined to file a police report” following an altercation with Will Smith at the 94th Academy Awards. Smith took to the stage during the 2022 Oscars and slapped Rock after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith.

Even Will Smith wouldn’t let his wife’s health condition be used for a publicity stunt. That would even be worse. I have a new respect for him.

Looked real to me. I don’t think Chris is a good enough actor to pull off the discomfort physically and mentally as well as the embarrassment from that.
I used to watch Fresh Prince of Bel Air- no more will I watch anything with Will Smith. Not that I have in the past 20 yrs or so, but still...
He should file charges but can’t. This is will Smith. He is getting backing from heavyweights like Tyler Perry and Denzel.
It might be career suicide if he did.
From what I have seen and heard I person, black people will not fill charges against another black person. They say enough black men are in jail. One man I know was robbed at gunpoint by someone he knew but refused to file charges for that very reason. “I am not putting another brother in jail.”
Plus, lots of behind the scene stuff- I think Will is on top which would bode very badly on CR.

Two things....
First, a slap? Really? But if you want to stage a fight and reduce the risk of someone actually getting hit, a slap is far less risky that a punch.
Two, the timing. If this was right before the last block of big elawards was given out, then I’m thinking the incident was staged to goose what I’m betting were miserable ratings.
Ad time was likely more expensive around the big awards.
If this went out on social media and folks tuned in right after, Hollyweird might have gotten a decent ratings spike after this.
And that would affect makegoods and cut down on bad publicity.

I guess in the aftermath of the Juicy Smollett affair, Chris Rock knows better than to file a false police report over a staged event.
Will Smith made a joke about a dude who has alopecia..bald dude on arsenio hall. Twitter bringing it up..but mostly people tweeting about Jada punking him with an affair
There is no way that this was staged. Will Smith got out of the chair and hit Rock.
that was a weak punch then. Will having a breakdown? Drugs? Chris could have said alot worse about Jada.
