Asbestos wont hurt you if you leave it intact. Break it up into dust, and it will but just hanging there, like the asbestos siding on an old farm house I own, or in old ceiling tiles, they wont hurt you at all.
Indeed people would be amazed how many items in the house has it in them start with some floor tiles.
