Cinderella darling Saint Peter’s wrote another chapter in its hard-to-believe tale on Friday night at jammed Wells Fargo Center. The Peacocks closed like seasoned title contenders, not a No. 15 seed with no business being in this position.
Saint Peter’s stunned No. 3 Purdue, 67-64, becoming the lowest seed in NCAA Tournament history to reach the Elite Eight after finishing on a 15-8 run.
When a 3-point heave by the Boilermakers’ Jaden Ivey was off the mark at the horn, Saint Peter’s coach Shaheen Holloway lifted both arms in the air and his entire team sprinted over to press row to salute and celebrate their fans.

I made an error in how many ballots were submitted. I was way off. It is only 17.4 million which means 52,200 chose St. Peters for the Elite 8 and 17,400 for the Final Four. 75 million seemed a bit high, but I assumed many people submitted more than one.
I know everyone hates Duke, but I don't care. I was a Duke fan before Coach K showed up.
Why? You don’t like the ACC?
I apologize to Purdue fans.
That was the damndest game. Every time I’d pop my head in to see how the game was going, Purdue would be ahead by about 4 points. I’d watch a couple minutes, Purdue would commit a couple ugly turnovers and / or take a couple bad shots, and St. Peters would go ahead. “Ok, I’m jinxing it somehow.”
My Dad was a Purdue alumni, so, I’d just shake my head and go back outside. Come back in, rinse and repeat. That happened at least 5 times... The last 5 minutes I told my wife, “C’mon, I know I can’t REALLY be having any effect”, and sure enough, St. Peters went ahead and held like steel at the end. Great free throw shooting, and they really frustrated Purdue.
I suspect a solid team with a good, really quick, 6’ 10” or taller experienced center could tear up St. Peters. We shall see.
In the meantime, I apologize to Purdue fans. I should have stayed outside.
The Burn, Loot, & Murder knotheads will be knocked off in the next round. “Our POCs are bigger than your POCs.”
Good point.
It rained in my neighborhood. Is that because you were outside washing your car?
Loved their BLM sweatshirts. /s
Ho apology is needed, Purdue does this to themselves all too often. Not taking anything away from St. Peters, congrats to their history making team.
I grew up a Cubs fan so I think it prepared me for these Boiler bummers, but at least there is hope since even The Cubs broke their 100 year curse.
....not 1 makes it to the Elite Eight?
To the kids it's just a slogan, and black lives DO matter. I doubt that they are aware of the Marxist socio-political views of the organization that uses the name. And they don't know that the whole thing is based on the lie of police targeting blacks for execution.
Black lives matter. But... BUT ALL LIVES MATTER!
BLM t-shirts or no, I think St Peter’s Cinderella run ends tomorrow against North Carolina.
