Saint Peter’s beats Purdue to become first 15 seed to reach NCAA tourney Elite Eight

Cinderella darling Saint Peter’s wrote another chapter in its hard-to-believe tale on Friday night at jammed Wells Fargo Center. The Peacocks closed like seasoned title contenders, not a No. 15 seed with no business being in this position.

Saint Peter’s stunned No. 3 Purdue, 67-64, becoming the lowest seed in NCAA Tournament history to reach the Elite Eight after finishing on a 15-8 run.

When a 3-point heave by the Boilermakers’ Jaden Ivey was off the mark at the horn, Saint Peter’s coach Shaheen Holloway lifted both arms in the air and his entire team sprinted over to press row to salute and celebrate their fans.

What a great Cinderella story. We will see how far they can go? I wonder how many picked St. Peter’s to make the Elite 8 on their March Madness brackets????

Not shown in any of the NYP photos or discussed in the article: the team donned BLM jerseys for the post-game celebration. Eff’em — long, hard, & deep!

St. Peter’s: the team that destroyed everyone’s brackets.

The bench players wore them all game long.

A shame that they crashed the post game interview of their coach, causing it to be terminated.

Not sure specifically about St. Peter’s, but all men’s brackets have been busted on NCAA, ESPN, Yahoo, and CBS web sites. Not unusual, historically speaking.

That coach will be getting a ne, higher paid job very soon. And he deserves it. They beat better teams by being well coached and disciplined.

Kudos to St Peter’s. But their players wearing Black Lives Matter t-shirts are a turn off. And the commercials during the tourney.... so woke it’s sickening.

I think that would be zero.

Yep.

Too bad his players couldn’t behave themselves for a couple of seconds.

Good game. Got disgusted when the Peacocks put Black Lives Matter shirts on at the end of the game. Like those athletes have been pampered since high school.

I’m #5 to point out the Bacon, Lettuce and Manure shirts, but it was like the turd in the punch bowl for me. But then it’s a Jesuit school in NJ.

They coukd have been in solidarity woth their Jesuit in the Vatican as he called for penance, peace, and consecration, but that would have been too Catholic for a Catholic college.

According to ESPN, only .003 (3 tenths of 1 percent) chose St. Peters to get to the Elite 8 and only .001 chose St. Peters to get to the final four. There are about 75 million brackets submitted to ESPN, so that means there are about 225,000 brackets that list St. Peters in the Elite 8 and 75,000 includes them in the Final Four. I submitted only one ballot and they were gone in the first round.

A link is below in which you can see the percent for every team picked in each round

ESPN who picked whom

See post 16. About 225,000 ESPN brackets chose St. Peters to reach the Elite 8. I definitely believe there are no perfect brackets left. It’s almost impossible unless you submit one for every possible combination, which is also impossible.
