As Twitchy reported earlier, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis made even more liberal heads explode by signing a proclamation declaring Emma Weyant the best women’s swimmer in the NCAA 500-yard freestyle, a race that was awarded to transgender swimmer Lia Thomas. That’s made the news, and it presents quite a conundrum for headline writers. As Christina Pushaw notes, the Orlando Sentinel had to put “female” in quotation marks when describing Weyant, who is a female.
Gov. Ron DeSantis waded further into gender politics today, issuing a proclamation that said a swimmer from Sarasota is the nation’s best “female” in the 500-meter freestyle after she finished 2nd to a transgender athlete at the NCAA championship. https://t.co/pVSAUVn92a pic.twitter.com/c9zNgaaWtU

Uh, why is 'female' in quotes here? Emma is female; it is an undisputed fact. Florida media is truly going off the deep end this week. pic.twitter.com/Pd8GpSXIDH

I'd put the "competition" in quotes before "female".

Good point.
It’s not hard to see why Democrats can’t win statewide elections in Florida.
— Squirrel! (@Team_Squirrel) March 22, 2022
An actual female is questionable and a pretend female is legit. It's an upside down world
— David Biddle (@davidebiddle) March 22, 2022
Because they are unable to accurately define female
— Karin (@PugLuVR06) March 22, 2022
Bc they can’t define “female” or else their worldview collapses 😃
— Andrew Washburn (@AndrewW27398232) March 22, 2022
Ironic, isn't it?
The real woman gets female in quotes, but the other thing is unequivocally female.
Big yikes.
— Scottie Binyons (@B82Scottie) March 22, 2022
So we’re supposed to refer to trans women as “women,” but to biological women as “cisgender women” to differentiate.
Stop being sexist, @OrlandoSentinel.

Mind games. It’s ALL mind games.

They consider us fake females because we were not born with a penis.
— LibertyJ (@LibertyJen) March 22, 2022
The media sucks
— Dskj (@Don83231101) March 22, 2022
The fact that the word "trans" need to be used to describe a "woman" is evidence they aren't the same. Emma is a woman
— Ronaldo Reagano (@ReaganoRonaldo) March 22, 2022
All the leftist propaganda media shills are long gone off the deep end. Today just happens to be "trans" week.
— Danilo F. Pacheco 🇺🇸 🇨🇴 (@DaniloF06848421) March 22, 2022
It would be considered hate speech if you referred to Lia Thomas as “female.”
What do you expect from Orlando? It’s a Mickey Mouse Perverted Fun Land.
I can not think of one common sense reason to allow males to compete against females in sports.
Sounds like insanity, but is isn’t. The left knows what it’s doing. It’s trying to destroy the concept of male and female in our minds. The end goal is to destroy the family which exists because of the relationship male/female.
The Orlando Sentinel is a quote newspaper unquote.
Nothing will change until women athletes and parents of those athletes take a stand, refusing to be in meets and competitions with men pretending to be women, until then there will be no effective remedy for this situation.
REAL WOMEN works too. As does NORMAL women.
The real woman gets female in quotes, but the other thing is unequivocally female.
Big yikes.

__________
These two comments reveal that the game is over and the Critical Theorists have been hoisted on their own petard.
It’s good to think on one’s own.
Orlando “Sentinel” as in “a soldier or guard whose job is to stand and keep watch.”
“I can not think of one common sense reason to allow males to compete against females in sports.”
What about the shooting sports? Pistol shooting anyway.
I don’t engage in shooting as a sport, so I don’t know much about it.
I prefer to think of women as women, and transgender idiots as delusional f*&^%$* idiots.
What about in the sport of Twister?
It is now OBVIOUS that sexual immorality/any perversion of any kind being accepted, advocated, defended, demanded is the TOTAL agenda of the Democrat Party and, unfortunately, many Republicans. NOTHING else matters to them. All of this portends the eventual downfall of this nation.
“The real woman gets female in quotes, but the other thing is unequivocally female.”
My new tagline becomes more of a dose of reality each day, when B$ like this is done.
I hope progs keep ignoring the polls and upping the ante on this trans insanity at least through 2024.
Orlando Sentinel should be put in quotations as “news”
Lol! A Twister Tournament is where you would want a mix of the 2 sexes if participants are over the age of 15.
Hmmm.... I do not know if women compete equally with men in shooting sports. There may be some type of fatigue factor that comes into play.
-Nonetheless-
One sport should not set the rule for all sports.
I can see allowing women to compete against men if they want to, say maybe golf? But not visa-versa.
Cornhole. They already do it.
It is about time to cease the infatuation of the media with transvestite homosexual male perverts claiming to be female / women when they clearly are not.
I don’t care if they claim to be self identifying as rabbits and sit in rabbit cages, that does not make them rabbits.
Let’s just give them all a collective “oh, BS” and move on with our lives.
