Listening to KBJ’s responses in her hearing, I get the idea that she has something like a wire to her ear and is spouting chunks of words that are being fed to her. Unnatural pauses every 4 or 5 words, roughly.
Hawley’s done a very good job.
Here she was speaking with a much different and more natural style on a panel in 2019 (starting about the 19:30 mark):
Notably, she didn’t have her hair down and forward, completely covering her ears.
IMO Monica Lewinsky had a similar but different hair makeover and overnight adoption of an oddly phrased speaking cadence when she testified in Congress back in the day.

Ketanji’s face during Hawley’s questions really changed. And she ain’t smiling anymore. There was one moment where I thought she was going to lose her temper.
