No, not like Afghanistan at all. Unlike the afghans, the Ukeys are doing the fighting and dying. Big difference.
And the Taliban were not?
“Logistics under duress is not a winning formula.”
Hell, it is usually disastrous.
But you screwed up badly because you never considered the motive for each doing lunch. Catastrophic fail on your part. I’m giving you a standing 8 count.
“WAS one. It no longer exists.”
Arecibo was shut down? I did not know that. Was its mission moved?
Calling Admiral Yamamoto.
China doesn’t need to invade Taiwan to attain their political goals there. Taiwan is an island too close to China, China can just threaten a blockade - that is to prevent merchant shipping going to Taiwan unless Taiwan kowtows.
The onus will then be on the US, the allies in the area (principally Japan and South Korea) and the “international community” to place sanctions on China (vastly more significant to the global economy), and moreover run “Malta convoys” to Taiwan. That is a direct military confrontation with China. Someone is likely to blink. The good part of this from the Chinese POV is that they don’t need to go all the way. They can blink. They can pull this stunt as often as they like, until the US blinks.
The thing is China has already been discouraging investment into China. This may sound odd but its so nontheless. They may be anticipating sanctions. https://tradingeconomics.com/china/foreign-direct-investment
President Trump did fine with his “lunch” with Kim.
And for the most part, North Korea developed and tested their own missiles and nukes long before any “lunch” with Presidents Trump or Putin. You are the one that continues to "screw up badly". Chuckle.
“Even the guy reporting this is astounded that the Russians never switched off the power. Any theories on why not?”
Russian mobile comms are pretty poor, so they likely need local power.
I understand that all news and all news and all politics was consolidated in ukraine.
Probably elements of the 35th and 36th Combined Arms Armies plus various Russian National Guard units. The 41st Combined Arms Army seems to be on the East side of the Dneiper.
That video is an example what needs to happen on college campuses when the little leftists start to shout down speakers.
The Ukes do not seem to be much like the Afghans.
And the Russians aren’t the US, by far.
Too many people here believe that if you are against sending billions of dollars of aid and tens or hundreds of thousands of troops to Ukraine, then you are for Putin and Russia.
It is abject stupidity.
I don’t want a cent (beyond some real humanitarian aid) of taxpayer money going to Ukraine. And I don’t want to send military forces. It is Europe’s back yard now. They have repeatedly shown how ungrateful they are and how much they despise us, with few exceptions.
I refuse to ally with the kind of people agitating for full-on war. Soros. The Biden Administration. The entire Democrat party. Big Tech.
I won’t do it. If they are for it (and they are damn well for it) then I am against it.
They were constantly attacking down the west side of Kiev, at one point last week cutting the direct highway Lviv-Kiev. But that seems to have stopped and the Ukes have the highway back.
That is funny! “Ok, now you little punks can’t leave”
The Russian generals certainly are doing it wrong. Heck, their colonels are doing it wrong. If their leadership system, communications and staff are functional there should be no need to constantly send generals down to command battalions, companies, platoons.
