Reubens always make me think of my dear old Dad. (He too was an “old Virginian.”)

He loved a good Reuben - always wanted to try them at different sandwich shops. He did like them on rye, though.

When he was going to visit one of my sisters who lived in NYC at the time, he told me he couldn’t wait to try a Reuben at the Carnegie Deli. LOL

Lots of people of German descent here. The paternal side of my family is Scottish to the bone, the maternal side is German by way of England. I love going to the family gatherings because theres lots of kraut, sausages and potato salad!

I've made my own Reuben Sandwiches using Marble Rye, Bavarian Sauerkraut, Baby Swiss, and Thousand Island Dressing...toasted in a pan with butter.

The corned beef is Top Round (not Brisket).
