Well Russia’s military doctrine has never been like America’s which emphasizes surgical strikes and minimizing civilian and military casualties. Russia’s military doctrine since World War II and later in Afghanistan was basically just keep throwing waves of cannon fodder ground troops and indiscriminate artillery barrages at the enemy and eventually there will be nothing left for them to defend and they’ll give up. Which is exactly the strategy they are employing again in Ukraine.
I studied Soviet military doctrine for years.
Their doctrine against NATO was simple.
“Get to the Atlantic coast of Europe.”
They would send out many recon units to find any weakness in the defense.
Then, they would pile on to the weakness.
They haven’t changed much.
Their military isn’t as big as when they were the Soviet Union.
