; hurricanes, alligators, scorpions, fire ants, poisonous toads, giant pythons, retirees from New York, vacationers from Quebec, you’ll be sorry!

You left out the Iguanas falling out of trees in cold weather. And the packs of wild monkeys that escaped near Silver Springs. (Special warning - don't get too familiar with the monkeys - they have herpes.)

Use to go there all the time. Universal expanded and mow had two parks that require separate admission, similar to Disney. In general Universal is great and if you kids or older much better the Disney.

Why not a fun filled vacation in the West or Midwest and leave out the Potterville’s and Hollywood’s of this world.

We’ve been to Branson.......about 7 years ago
We weren’t that impressed
The one thing we enjoyed was a replica of the Titanic......I don’t know if they still have it
Don’t know where you’re coming from, but Oklahoma City has a super great Western museum

Universal Orlando Resort

Universal operates three theme parks in the U.S. — Universal Studios Hollywood in California and Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Florida.

Meredith Wallace of Minnie Memories Travel, a travel advisor specializing in theme parks, says she usually explains the difference with three basic questions: Are roller coasters a must? You want to go to Orlando. Do you want to see active movie sets and maybe a star or two? You need to go to Hollywood. Are you a Harry Potter fan hoping to visit Hogwarts and Diagon Alley? You have to go to Orlando.

Universal's Islands of Adventure, originally called Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, is a theme park located in Orlando, Florida. It opened on May 28, 1999, along with CityWalk, as part of an expansion that converted Universal Studios Florida into the Universal Orlando Resort.

We go there almost every year! Universal Orlando is the entire complex. Universal Studios is one of the parks in the complex (the other is Islands Of Adventure, and there is a water park we’ve never been to, I think it’s called volcano Bay.). There is also, on property, an area called City Walk, which you have to traverse to get to the parks. It has no admission price (except during special events) and is basically restaurants (all kinds, from fast food to upscale, and snacks, including the wonderful Voodoo Donuts! They’re large, so the hubby and I pick one to take back to the hotel each night to have with tea! You don’t have to stand in line for them either (long lines), there’s an app and a cart outside the shop where you can pick up your to go order about 10 minutes after ordering).

Islands Of Adventure has a Marvel themed area (Spider-Man is the best!), a comic book themed area (Popeye etc), Jurassic Park area (great ride!), and Harry Potter castle and Hogsmeade area, it’s beautiful, very themed, pop up shows, wand store, etc. Lots of fun if you’re a Potter fan, which our whole family is! There’s also a new coaster there, over the lake that separates the two parks.

From Hogsmeade, you can take the Hogwarts Express (highly themed train ride, different in each direction, lots of fun) to the Universal Studios park if you have park hopper tickets. It will leave you at the back of the park, at Kings Cross Station, where you can visit Diagon Alley, and ride the Gringotts ride (indoor roller coaster), and get butter beer (actually both parks. The frozen one is awesome when you’re hot!). More shops, very Harry Potter immersional!

The Universal Studios park also has a Simpsons themed area, Men In Black (you can shoot “aliens”, one of our favorite rides because it’s interactive and the
Lines are relatively short), an ET ride that’s mild but cute, Transformers ride (never again!, a NYC area with pop up performances by the Blues Brothers and an Irish restaurant with good food, the Mummy ride which is a fantastic indoor coaster and one of our favorites too, and a large Hollywood themed area with a Bourne show (really good effects), Shrek show (silly and really really fun), Minions ride, an outdoor coaster I’ve never ridden, and lots of characters (we like Scooby Doo and the gang!).

The nice thing about the parks is that you can get quick snacks, including fresh fruit cups and other relatively decent things, all over the place. If you like the Simpsons, you can even get your own Duff beer and giant hot dogs lol.

Wear comfy shoes, it’s a LOT of walking (typically we do 17k-18k a day).

Have an awesome trip!

The difference is you have less than an hour drive to the pedophile kingdom and pizzacot in Orlando when you’re done with Universal.
