If we lived under a government which made gun possession illegal, can we, as Christians, refuse to relinquish our guns under the pretext that it violates our God given obligation to protect our family? I don’t believe so.
***I DO think so. Christians have had weapons to protect their families since long before they were ever held illegal.
When the pope outlawed crossbows to protect the social order of the day, was it the christians’ responsibility to obey? Nope.
Jesus said “Give unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s, and Give unto God that which is God’s.” Giving up your right to keep and bear arms is not giving to Caesar that which is Caesar’s, because Caesar is taking what is NOT his.
The key to my statement is, “as Christians”. Meaning, as a Christian following the instructions of the Bible I don’t believe one should refuse to relinquish firearms to the government if required to by law.
There are the actions of Christians, and there are actions of Christians based on Biblical directives. These don’t always coincide. Refusing to comply with the government over possessions does not convert a Christian into a non-Christian.
