I think back then you could still siphon.
You can’t now? I know a lot of people have locking gas caps, which seemed to become a big thing later. But I don’t know how gas tanks are made/operate now.
Likely more metal than plastic tanks then.
Sparks are not a Good Thing around leaking gasoline.
