It covers the expulsion of the Jews from Portugal, their settling in Holland, and from there the establishment of Dutch colonies in Brazil and the wars that ensued. All intertwined. Ending with the first Jewish contingent arriving in New York, Dutch New Amsterdam, when Dutch Brazil was finally retaken by the Portuguese. It’s a history I’ve known essentially nothing about.
I knew from this book that the Dutch had briefly seized Angola, I did not know about the battle in the Philippines.
