Isn’t Jane Campion a fake female?
Last I read (a few years ago) they were something around 4-5% of top grossing films, actually down from the ‘90s and lower then other less developed countries. There really isn’t an argument only that number of women are qualified to make a film
and she “wins” because of equity...not equality
Because she’s from New Zealand. I am pretty sure she was born with XX chromosomes.
I’m not sure what your argument is.
Yes, I agree. It was unneccessary comment.
Aside from this story, I thought KING RICHARD was really good. The two young girls were super cute and talented, and Smith’s character was well done...but I’m a sucker for bio-pics - no matter how much BS is thrown in.
It was an obvious quip on the state of women in the industry that I’m sure everyone there got, nothing to do with whether the Williams sisters should be playing men.
I’ll have to watch that one. I like feel-good movies.
Campion’s movie about the mean and vicious gay cowboy stinks.
It was as exciting as watching paint dry.
and it’s not about dogs, or power.
I wish I could get those two hours of my life back.
No, she won the award for directing the pseudo-western film "The Power of the Dog". The movie about the Williams sisters and her dad was a different movie directed by someone else. But it was dumb to pat herself on the back rather than just thank the voters for giving her the award. In her zeal to point out how special she is as a woman director, she gave the sisters a sort of back-handed compliment.
Thank you for sharing that! I could see myself getting suckered into that one, just based on the branding.
It looked like a man in a velvet bath robe to me.
She told a joke that landed flat. Big F/ Deal. Even for woke/offended people this is pretty lame
