People still go to malls?

While people blame online shopping, the truth is that this kind of stuff is a BIG reason why indoor malls have declined over the past 40 years or so. I’ve seen it in multiple locations. A mall becomes a hangout for “youths” and then regular customers stop coming. The mall eventually closes and then the youths seek out their next target. Wash, rinse and repeat.

I will say this seems to be a problem with indoor malls only. Outdoor shopping malls, especially outlet malls, seem to do fine. I guess the youths don’t like being exposed to weather.

My wife especially bemoans this situation. She used to love going to malls to shop, but has largely stopped doing that, except for outlet malls.
