Alec Baldwin filed legal papers Friday denying any responsibility for shooting dead Halyna Hutchins — even blaming the late cinematographer for giving him the directions that led to the deadly accident.
The 63-year-old actor insisted that every single mistake leading to the Oct. 21 shooting on the New Mexico set of “Rust” was “performed by someone else.”
His filing Friday also revealed that Baldwin made an “exhaustive effort” to get the crew back together to finish the doomed movie even after a flurry of lawsuits blamed him for mom-of-one Hutchins’ death.

I never had any doubts at all. The fix is in.
Alec Baldwin will not be charged with any crime. High-status Democrats are exempt from laws and government officials repeatedly make that clear to the rest of us.
At best, the Armorer might be sacrificed in a prosecution for criminal negligence. I believe even that much is unlikely.
A bit more difficult to guess the outcome of the civil suits. Most will likely be dismissed or settled for the cost of attorney fees. Insurance will cover that.
The lawsuit from Halyna Hutchin's family could be a more expensive problem for Baldwin.

Who is responsible for checking the state of a firearm in your own hand?
Who cocked the firearm?
Who operated the trigger.
The answer to those questions is the person responsible for the firearm discharging, no one else.

"THIS is the horror 911 call made after Alec Baldwin shot dead Halyna Hutchins on set..."The panicked call, made by the film's script supervisor Mamie Mitchell, reveals how the team asked for help "immediately" after the shooting ordeal.
In the footage obtained by TMZ, the woman can be heard telling operators: "We've had two people accidentally shot on a movie set by a prop gun. "We need help immediately."
While on the 911 call, the script supervisor then appears to speak to someone else with her as she begins "placing the blame" of the loaded gun on another crew member.
She said: "he's supposed to check the guns, he's responsible," before the operator then asks more questions.
The gun that was fired was one of three laid on a cart by the film's armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.
Assistant director Dave Halls grabbed the gun from the cart, believing it was unloaded, and brought it inside to Alec, who was filming a scene, the warrant says.
It's not clear at this time how many rounds were fired.
Rust's script supervisor, Mamie Mitchell, said she was standing next to Hutchins when she was shot.
The gun that went off and other prop guns and ammunition were taken in as evidence, as well as Alec's blood-stained costume, the warrant says.
According to the accounts of people familiar with the set, Thursday's deadly accident was not the first time there were safety issues at the New Mexico film location, Deadline reports.
At least one previous incident involved a prop weapon misfiring, one source told the outlet.
"A gun had two misfires in a closed cabin," the source said. "They just fired loud pops - a person was just holding it in their hands and it went off."
Hours before Thursday's fatal accident, seven of the film's camera crew also reportedly stormed off the set because of safety concerns.
One member of the crew wrote about the issues on a private Facebook group, according to Deadline.
"We cited everything from lack of payment for three weeks, taking our hotels away despite asking for them in our deals, lack of Covid safety, and on top of that, poor gun safety!" the post said. "Poor on-set safety period!"
The staff member alleged that "they brought in four non-union guys to replace us and tried calling the cops on us."
An unnamed prop master who oversaw the gun used in the shooting was a non-union employee who was "just brought in" to replace workers who left, a source told The New York Post."
