The Animated History of Ukraine
17:01 minutes total but it's a historical lecture in a cartoon format so easy to watch.
Interesting...it seems to be an ongoing battle for control or access to Baltic Sea among other things that has gone on for hundreds of years.
The video is informative, however too little time and detail is given to Catherine the Great’s seizure of Ukraine from the Ottomans. It’s subsequent repopulation by Slavs, Jews, and Dutch/German Anabaptists
Pinging myself for an evening watch
“battle for control or access to Baltic Sea”
The Black Sea, where Ukraine is concerned. Russia has had access to the Baltic since they defeated the Republic of Novgorod a looooong time ago.
Bflr.
Yes...I keep mixing up the 2
Take for example England.
Once, the land of Picts, Celts, Romans, Saxons, Norseman, Danes, Norman French, English and so on over the centuries...
And yet, you get something like this:
Considered Britain’s oldest complete skeleton, the stone-age remains were found in Cheddar Gorge, Somerset, and were excavated in 1903. Genetic fingerprinting later found that some descendants of the Cheddar Man still live in the same area of Britain.
Sharing the caveman’s DNA is Adrian Targett of Somerset and Craig Dent of Melbourne, Australia. Using 192.com’s search database Craig was able to contact Adrian and the pair met at the end of May.
‘I knew through my research that my links to the Bristol region dated back many hundreds of years on both my paternal and maternal lineages,’ said Craig. ‘However, I was surprised to learn through my DNA that my link with the region dates back thousands of years. When I first spoke with Adrian and other distant relatives in Stoke Gifford and Winterbourne, the heartland of my paternal link to the region, I was humbled by their kindness and warmth. 192.com’s services were invaluable in assisting me to bring these connections to life.’
Somewhere in Ukraine, lives descendants of the original Mammoth Hunters and Yamnaya cultures from 20,000 years ago.
What a First Lady!
