The lettuce, funded by more than 1,000 individual donations, is offered to manatees that gather in the warm water discharge near a power plant on Florida's east coast as they typically do during cold months. Well that settles it. With wind and solar all the manatees are goners....

Two trips to Costco in the last 2 weeks, the second today. No lettuce either trip.
They’re feeding it to flipping sea cows!

we’re ruining Florida’s eco system with these creatures. They’re not even native to the US; they’re from the West Indies. Surely you're not as dumb as you're acting, at least I hope not.
They most certainly are native to the U.S., at least they've been here a lot longer than any people have. The species is known as the West Indian Manatee but doesn't mean they're from the West Indies, it's just a name. The Florida subspecies evolved around the gulf coast and has been there since prehistoric times.
They're hardly ruining the ecosystem, there's only about 6000 of them and most Floridians, myself included, have never seen one in the wild. They congregate around power plant discharge pipes in the winter because it's warm. If I lived in the water I'd do the same thing, it makes perfectly good sense to me.
If you want to save Florida's ecosystem then start culling northern liberals instead. We've got about 6000 of them an hour pouring into Florida and they eat or destroy everything in sight.

I’ve been swimming in springs where they hang out too - it’s like swimming next to an old style volkewagon bug. Sweet nature but huge...
