LOL - He also wrote his note in a block where it clearly said “Do not write in this area”.
Just a little observation. I’m guessing his request for discreetness was to avoid being noticed by any individuals who might be tempted to rob him for that amount of untraceable cash.
Of course, ATL in the house. Stay away from the atm’s.
Afraid of white supremacy robbers?
Bank teller is pretty much a minimum wage and low experience job these days. I’ve seen some kids doing a real poor job, too.
Cash Ins, either making a Deposit or a Payment, and Cash Outs in excess of the 10k limit, customer information is collected and gets reported via form FinCEN-104. There are ways to be exempted from reporting if you’re a business - just requires paperwork with your Bank/CU.
At my bank when I make a $12000 withdrawal they ask me for my PHOTO ID!
Well that's blown to H*ll and back. The whole world knows now.
Well, there you go, he clearly ignored the instructions that say “Do not write in this area”. Throw the book at him!
This is not how you withdraw money from your account.
He was trying to create a narrative
I suppose it depends on the agreement you sign with the bank when you open your account, but generally the bank can’t stop you from withdrawing whatever you want from a checking account. Savings accounts usually have withdrawal limits and fees for exceeding them, but not checking accounts.
Not always. They may report if they believe your lesser than $10k withdrawal was done to avoid reporting requirements. They may report if they see you have done a less than 10k withdrawal recently.
The real reason they called the cops is because he wrote in the “Do not write in this area” box!
$12,000? A lot of banks wouldn’t be able to cover that easily without a day’s notice. I pulled out a couple thousand during the 2008 banking troubles and they had to get a manager to open the little safe under the tellers’ work desks because it was more than the drawers had. And cash has become less used since then.
“Evidently it wouldn’t have happened has the cashier not been pregnant...?”
It’s called pregnancy brain. Or maybe she’s just a racist and was afraid of a black man.
Mask, sunglasses a hat and a hoodie.
Suspicious as heck.
Thanks. I thought there were restrictions on how much cash you could withdraw in one transaction.
Guess he can't read either.

LOL
Making international news is probably not what he had in mind by “discrete”.
If this guy sues, I’ll bet this bank will end up losing a lot more than $12000. They would’ve come out ahead if it actually had been a robbery.
