'You have to protect us': Zelensky calls for air support from West as Russian siege continues

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky continued to plead for Western assistance against Russian airstrikes Tuesday — a day after he warned that there could be dire consequences for the rest of the world if it doesn’t support the country’s fight for freedom.

“While Russians are to blame for the killings, responsibility is shared by those who for 13 days in their Western offices haven’t been able to approve an obviously necessary decision, who didn’t save our cities from these bombs and missiles — although they can,” Zelensky said.

In an interview with ABC’s David Muir on Monday night, Zelensky said Western protection of Ukraine was in democratic nations’ self-interest.

“Everyone thinks that we are far away from America or Canada,” he said. “No, we are in this zone of freedom. And when the limits of rights and freedoms are being violated and stepped on, then you have to protect us.”

At least it’s a neighbouring country. Now let me see, how far are Belgrade,Baghdad and Tripoli from the U.S? Hmm

Or maybe you can explain it to us?

How would you feel about armed Chinese troops on the Mexican border? Waiting for your answer.

Putin is a liar and thug. NATO must draw a line in the sand....at present NATO countries.

~~~
Agree.
It would have been nice for NATO countries to have their own buffer in Ukraine, but it looks like that is mostly lost. Of course if Zelenskyy took the deal, there would still be some buffer, but it’s not his job to help NATO if NATO wont help him.
I hope eastern blok NATO countries heard the wake up call and don’t go back to sleep. 5 or 10 years down the road, they will possibly be next. But if they lose their buffer, I’d like to think they can’t almost smell the threat on the border.
Probably wishful thinking. Globalists don’t believe in borders
I can't believe that this site has devolved to this level of tolerance for the indiscriminate destruction of a country and its citizens at the hands of a Russian mad man
There is killing, war and evil everywhere, Not just Ukraine. What do you suggest we do, as were constantly looted and lied to by our own government? What's the debt now? 31 trillion? Look at our own violent insane borders, all while your elected representatives are seeding the country with millions more illegally while they parade Russia and Ukraine in our faces.
What do ya want done?
How many hunter’s original works of art are you willing to shuffle some of that aid back for?
Everything I read in the MSM says Ukraine has Russia on the ropes. So why would Zelensky be asking for air cover? So confusing.
A better question is:
What would Kennedy have done if Russia hadn’t removed the missiles from Cuba?
Stupid question......What nations has NATO been accused of invading and occupying?
Waiting for YOUR answer.
Putin doesn't want the Ukraine a member of NATO simply because of his intent to invade it, which we have just witnessed.
NATO doesn't want to include the Ukraine simply because they depend on Russia's oil and gas and if the Ukraine were a member of NATO, they would be obligated to defend them..
So here are my questions to you:
Why did Russia invade Georgia in 2008? Was it because of Neo-Nazis?
Why did Russia invade Crimea in 2014? Was it because of Neo-Nazis?
What is your solution to the indiscriminate bombing of the Ukraine by the Russians?
Crimea has been Russian since the time of Catharine the Great. The Crimea belongs to Russian.
Serbia, Libya, Iraq. NATO is NOT a defensive alliance,
Correct, but these countries are:
Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the United States. The other member countries are: Greece and Turkey (1952), Germany (1955), Spain (1982), the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland (1999), Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia (2004), Albania and Croatia (2009), Montenegro (2017) and North Macedonia (2020).
So what's your point?
Well someone needs to put in a call to Billious Clintoon. He was the one who promised we would defend the Ukes if they would just give up their nukes. I guess nobody remembers? But the ‘toon foundation got a nice check in exchange for the nukes——which are pointed at us now.
Take the peace deal and end this now. From here on out, the blood is on his hands as far as I’m concerned.
The Crimea belongs to Russian.
Crimea divested itself from the now dissolved Soviet Union back in 1991. They successfully severed all ties to Russia until Russia invaded them in 2014.........
My point is that NATO is an offensive military alliance that has been used numerous times to implement regime change. Russia would be wise NOT to trust NATO.
Incorrect, the Crimea voted overwhelmingly to be part of Russia in 2014.
