Meh. My wife used to work in the Alaska Airlines boardroom, within the secured area. One time, about six years ago an old lady walked up to the counter and asked if they had lockers. They said no. She then said she accidentally brought her gun with her and she didn’t think she was allowed to take it on the plane. She pulled out the revolver and laid it on the counter.

That’s right. She got THROUGH security with a gun in her purse. They had to call security...

I had some .357 rounds in my luggage that I forgot to take out when I visited my son at Fort Bragg in December 2001. The TSA never caught it. Made me think how lucky I was but realized how inept they are.

A while ago, I had to bring a shotgun with me one the plane from Newark to DC. I was bringing it back from an antiarmor test we were doing during the Iraq War and when I brought it - in its locked carry case - to the airline check-in desk, the very stiff-faced young lady told me that I had to follow her through a security gate. I did - and she left at that point with no further guidance, and I was beyond security and could have boarded anydarnthing at that point. I went to the nearest Transportation Security desk (from behind) and said "I was sent to the wrong place and ended up here".

They were really excited and upset but walked me back to the baggage check area and secured my weapon and I was on my way
