Nice try. Ukraine was never going to be admitted to NATO...mainly because Ukraine did not meet the qualifications under the charter.

NATO 1990 and then 2019. NATO's only purpose is to fight Russia. The Soviet Union fell in 1991 but NATO remained, and after promises in 1990 by the US of no expansion of NATO, NATO has doubled in size since.

This is only one issue driving current events.

“Ukraine was never going to be admitted to NATO...mainly because Ukraine did not meet the qualifications under the charter.”

You might want to stop spreading Internet liberal talking points. NATO says Ukraine WILL become a member nation of NATO.

Brussels Summit Communiqué
Issued by the Heads of State and Government participating in the meeting of the North Atlantic Council in Brussels 14 June 2021

” We reiterate the decision made at the 2008 Bucharest Summit that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance with the Membership Action Plan (MAP) as an integral part of the process; we reaffirm all elements of that decision, as well as subsequent decisions, including that each partner will be judged on its own merits. We stand firm in our support for Ukraine’s right to decide its own future and foreign policy course free from outside interference. The Annual National Programmes under the NATO-Ukraine Commission (NUC) remain the mechanism by which Ukraine takes forward the reforms pertaining to its aspiration for NATO membership. Ukraine should make full use of all instruments available under the NUC to reach its objective of implementing NATO principles and standards. The success of wide-ranging, sustainable, and irreversible reforms, including combating corruption, promoting an inclusive political process, and decentralisation reform, based on democratic values, respect for human rights, minorities, and the rule of law, will be crucial in laying the groundwork for a prosperous and peaceful Ukraine. Further reforms in the security sector, including the reform of the Security Services of Ukraine, are particularly important. We welcome significant reforms already made by Ukraine and strongly encourage further progress in line with Ukraine’s international obligations and commitments. We will continue to provide practical support to reform in the security and defence sector, including through the Comprehensive Assistance Package. We will also continue to support Ukraine’s efforts to strengthen its resilience against hybrid threats, including through intensifying activities under the NATO-Ukraine Platform on Countering Hybrid Warfare. We welcome the cooperation between NATO and Ukraine with regard to security in the Black Sea region. The Enhanced Opportunities Partner status granted last year provides further impetus to our already ambitious cooperation and will promote greater interoperability, with the option of more joint exercises, training, and enhanced situational awareness. Military cooperation and capacity building initiatives between Allies and Ukraine, including the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade, further reinforce this effort. We highly value Ukraine’s significant contributions to Allied operations, the NATO Response Force, and NATO exercises.”

Newsflash: Ukraine will either end up a neutral country, or part of Russia. But never NATO. And the window for being neutral is pretty much closed.

I could be wrong, but I don't see Russia garrisoning the country of Ukraine after the conventional fighting ends. In the long-run the cheaper course would be to install a government 'pre-approved' by Russia and let them ride herd on the Ukrainian people.

The Scots & the Irish did this for hundreds of years. The Irish achieved their independence; the Scots... well, they got a different kind of deal.

“I understand you want the Russians to win.”

Nope, you understand wrong.

I don’t care who comes out ahead in the latest Euro urination contest, just don’t expect anybody else to give a damn, much less get involved.

Their corrupt governments, the dictatorships du jour and their wars have been a constant long before either of us graced this planet. This crap is very old and never ends, it’s a way of life in most the world. But it’s nobody’s business but theirs.

That being said, if you actually think the mighty Ukraine military is just half a pubic hair away from victory over the cornered Russian forces, you could make a massive killing on current events betting sites.

It gave Putin a pretext, but still only one person is responsible for the death and destruction that is happening now, and that is Vladimir Putin.

Taking back Ukraine was always Putin’s #1 priority - he just couldn’t afford it until the White Hut rEsident financially enabled him. He sees self as saver and protector of Russian people (wherever they are and whether or not they want saving) ; this will enable him to add the much sought after Russian strong man title of “The Great”. I blame the precursor for Putin’s war : rEsidernt Biden.

Leaving off the OTHERS there with McCain and Linda— that being the soon to be fired Ambassador Voyanovych (Trump fired her and voila- she testified at the Trump-Russia Russia impeachment sessions- she was approving American and other NGOs for USAID money who all kicked back money to the DNC).

She’s the red head Russian Born Canadian immigrant emplant in the State Dept and obama appointee.

And the lady in yellow sweater is Sen. Amy Klobuchar (DEM LIB-obama supporter).

And finally President Poroshenko who fired the Prosecutor after Biden threatened/bribed him with removal of millions in US Funds.

This was all after the “Color” in 2014. And then Soros came in sponsoring the Zelensky “revolution/reform” and Poroshenko fled the country. Biden and JoeBama supported Zelensky, cause he kept the money laundry going for US crooks.

Then along comes Trump and wants to know the story on the fired prosecutor who was investigating HUNTER BIDEN on the BOARD of Burisma oil (as was/is Romney’s former campaign manager and see eye eh guy Cofer Black).

They are all there with the Azov Batallion.

This war is not about corruption in Russia, Ukraine, and America. This war is about Russia’s obsession with expanding its territory to the point that it broke the peace with an all-out invasion of the Ukraine. Ukrainians are not Soros. They are brave people fighting off aggressors.

Pointing out the history of the obama support of Zelensky and the actions of the elite all along is not a NON-Condemnation of Putin. It is a condemnation of Putin. These “clowns” in the photo were all implicated in the money trough lure (that should never have had strings attached for Ukraine to defend itself— but somehow did).

See Conservative Treehouse— Poroshenko’s explanation believable or not about the importance of the US money paid to Ukraine politicians. Biden very much did threaten Poroshenko with removal of them if he did not remove the prosecutor who would have exposed Hunter Biden’s enormous pay and the kickback to-— Biden.

I agree- Ukraine deserves the help against the idiot dreaming Stalinist legacy builder with a vodka soaked addled mind— and nuclear weapons threats. Saner commanders in line should prevent such firing. One cannot ignore the operation of Soros in this— he is scum and unwanted even in NATO countries, like Hungary.

The blame America first crowd and no doubt a Russian disinformation site.

Putin is a KGB thug and war criminal. There’s no justification for attacking a country that was no threat to him except that it is a democracy (although imperfect) on his doorstep.

Right, after Stalin signed a pact with the Nazis. Nice people those Russian leaders.

Our stupidity was having Madeleine Albright as Secretary of State. Remember when she strutted around all over the globe proclaiming, “We are the sole remaining superpower. We are the one indispensable nation”?

Reminded me of what western Europe did after WWI, rubbing Germany’s nose in their defeat. What did Putin think of our boasting? I thought this would lead to trouble. You don’t humiliate Czar Putin.

And, if they do take Ukraine, that puts them solidly against a REAL Nato nation - Poland.

Russia already borders several NATO countries - Estonia and Latvia. And if you include the weird little Russian island of Kaliningrad and stuff, they also share a border with Lithuania and POLAND already!

There was some guy on Coast-to-coast radio for just a little blurb about the news in Ukraine. He spoke a bit about how Putin’s latest offer to Ukraine (recognize the rebel held areas as Ukraine had promised to in some previous treaty, don’t continue to seek entry into NATO and a couple of other minor things). The guy said something like “Ukraine has already started talking about not pushing the NATO thing, and the other stuff they had agreed to before. The only thing I can figure out is the USA is using this as a proxy war against Russia.”
