> Putin told soldiers that Allied policies of appeasement before the war broke out, for instance tolerating Germany’s annexation of Czechoslovakia in 1938, were also to blame for the conflict and for the communist Soviet Union’s decision to seek a deal with fascist Germany. <
Putin is actually right about that. Stalin saw the Western allies give in to Hitler time after time, and thought if he didn’t strike a deal with Germany he’d be next.
> But he reserved particular criticism for Poland... <
Total garbage there.
Agreed there. But it's ridiculous for Putin to talk like Russia is innocent of WW2 Axis atrocities in Poland when Russia was invading Poland from the east 16 days after Germany started invading Poland from the west. Then Germany and Russia agreed on how they'd divide Poland.
Or are we all supposed to forget that part of history. Or that Russia invaded Finland a couple of months later.
Putin talking like Russia was a sweet little angel during Nazi atrocities would be like Chris Christie saying he's skinny while also calling Stacy Abrams fat.
