Agreed there. But it's ridiculous for Putin to talk like Russia is innocent of WW2 Axis atrocities in Poland when Russia was invading Poland from the east 16 days after Germany started invading Poland from the west. Then Germany and Russia agreed on how they'd divide Poland.
Or are we all supposed to forget that part of history. Or that Russia invaded Finland a couple of months later.
Putin talking like Russia was a sweet little angel during Nazi atrocities would be like Chris Christie saying he's skinny while also calling Stacy Abrams fat.
Stalin knew the Pact meant War in the West. His hope was that the French, German and British armies would slug it out like in WWI, which would allow the Soviets to swoop right in.
Only, Stalin didn’t count on France falling so easily.

Agreed. Stalin had good reason to strike a bargain with Hitler. It could be fairly argued that British and French stupidity pushed him in that direction.
But the instant Soviet troops crossed into the Baltic states and Poland Stalin became as bad as Hitler.
And don’t forget what the USSR did to Warsaw at the end of WWII. It let the Germans slaughter the Polish resistance so that the Soviets could install a puppet communist government in Poland.
He should be asked about the Katyn massacre.
