The danger journalists face covering the war in Ukraine was shockingly illustrated last night as Sky News released harrowing footage of their team coming under fire.
Chief correspondent Stuart Ramsay was hit by a bullet in the lower back while in a car carrying his crew towards Kyiv on Monday.
Two rounds also hit camera operator Richie Mockler in his body armour during the ambush.
Footage shows bullets striking the car and the team screaming as glass smashes around them.
It is thought the attack was carried out by a saboteur Russian reconnaissance squad.
After a tense standoff, the team miraculously ran for their lives using a concrete wall for cover before finding shelter in a factory unit.
They were later rescued by Ukrainian police.
The whole crew, including Sky News' Dominique van Heerden and Martin Vowles, are now safe and back in the UK.
The fifth member of the team, local producer Andrii Lytvynenko, is back with his family in Ukraine.

Enemy combatants - made more dangerous by the propaganda war they’re waging on Russian troops.
And you would be a criminal just like them
One of these “journalist” I believe from this same news station was interviewing a soldier on the street who she thought was Ukrainian but was actually a Russian.
How stupid can one get?
The flags are on their uniform and she can’t tell the difference between a Russian Flag and a Ukraine one?
I hear there are a lot of them in South Chicago, too!
Regards,
Who shot the footage as they “ran for their lives?” 🤣

Oh...now I see why you would murder her...
Well okay then, run them out of the country. They are not helping the cause.
I’m trying to care but......
If you go into a war zone, you should not expect to be immune from being a target just because you are press.
Sucks to be them. Don’t do stupid stuff.
I’ve always wondered just how many of them would actually be out there meddling around in dangerous situations is they were never allowed to say their name on-air (or have it said.)
With armed civilians about, how do the distinguish themselves as non-combatants? They are wearing military helmets and body armor, are the “press” markings clearly visible from a couple hundred yards away?
Reminds me of the plot to kidnap the Governor of Michigan! You can’t believe a word you read in the news these days. That is why watching the Peoples Convoy LIVE on YouTube is so satisfying.
And if the press is immune from attack because they are allegedly objective observers, then what’s to stop anyone from pretending they are press and using fake credentials and ID for nefarious purposes?
I was once on a plane that stopped to refuel in KEEv, on the way to PAHKEEStan.
“It is thought”
Stopped reading there
Here in Portland, Antifa thugs were told to wear a "Press" badge on their body armor. If they had a phone, they are legally immune from arrest, so they can throw fire bombs, flash green lasers in cop eyes, and then claim they cannot be hauled in.
Explain.
I remember a live stream from the late 70s or early 80s when a cameraman was shot and, then you can see him attempting to crawl away (he died on camera, if I remember right). Don’t remember where (Maybe Israel?).
I felt safer in Downtown Saigon during my stay in Nam as a journalist (Bao Chi) than I would in Portland today.
When you insert yourself into a war, expect to be shot.
