Ukraine says it has agreed with Russia to create safe corridors backed by cease-fires to evacuate civilians, deliver aid.
They’re not human shields. They’re called residents.
With massive loss of life and destruction. Ukraine isn't winning. They are negotiating a surrender.
This is not accurate?
TV says talks end with no agreement.
Whatever is left of Ukraine at the end of this invasion is most certainly going to be aligned with NATO. About a month or so ago it was mentioned that there is the option for Ukraine to seed back to Poland the portions of Poland that were stolen from Poland by the Soviet Union.
That restored Polish territory would immediately be protected by NATO. Putin can b**** about it, wHine about it, and cry about it all he wants it will nevertheless be NATO territory.
God bless Putin, defender of Christendom, truth, justice, and the Soviet way.

These things can’t be true! Putin is hellbent on slaughtering, raping, and robbing all the Ukraininans he can get his hands on!
And Russia will have gained a defensible land bridge to its warm water port on the Crimean Peninsula, all of eastern Ukraine east of the Dnieper River, and Control of the gas fields in the northern Black Sea coast at the very least.
That is an Obama/Biden “win” if I have ever seen one
Putin will be dead soon and his legacy will be one of putting Russia on it back for at least 10 years all for nothing. The average Russian citizen will regularly go to his tomb to take a piss on it.
And what has Russia lost? They have lost any chance at good relations with the west.
Who then will defend Russia when China steadily vassalizes them over the next decades?
“Those “safe corridors for civilians and aid”, may also serve a third purpose.”
Goodness, gracious, someone who understands strategy. If he offers the potential shooters of weapons an opportunity to walk away safely, he is cutting down the resistance without firing a shot or being shot at. And if enough of them leave, it will impress others still in the city that the tiny resistance they are creating is futile. He doesn’t want to level the city, which he is capable of. He would like under a peaceable scenario to take over the city and invite those back to run it for him. They both need the commerce. And the oil and gas.

Do you know what month in WW2 the German Army reached its peak in numbers of panzers? January, 1943. The same month Stalingrad fell. The Germans had the most tanks they ever did, but they lacked the logistics to field and support large combined arms formations at the far south-eastern end of the front, and they spent the month retreating from the Caucuses and the Don.
The Russian Army has serious logistics shortcomings: Feeding the Bear: A Closer Look at Russian Army Logistics and the Fait Accompli. They should win eventually, but if the Russians were foolish enough to fill the entire road with stationary vehicles, so that the already inadequate number of supply trucks cannot reach their units, drop off supplies, and go back for more, well a miles long column of stalled, unfueled vehicles is exactly what one would expect.
I’m not sure.
Kyiv Independent reports this also:
“Ukraine, Russia agree to set up humanitarian corridors.
According to Ukraine’s presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak, the two sides will together provide humanitarian corridors to evacuate civilians and to deliver food and medicine to the areas with the harshest battles.”
“The fuel trucks are soft targets and you’re right they may have problems in the cities.”
Not if they can load fuel in missiles miles away. Head up firefights are a win for Ukrainians. Getting taken out with missiles isn’t.

If Russia was rolling over everything in front of it without resistance there would be no cease-fire.
So your plan is to use missiles to deliver fuel to the Russian tanks and trucks operating inside the Ukrainian cities? Okay....sure. Sounds like a plan!
WSJ says: “No deal on cease-fire but agreement reached on civilian evacuations”
You may be correct, they are negotiating a surrender. The problem is the lack of real information about what is going on. The Russian invasion continues, but the battle lines have hardly changed in a week. There is much fog of war, but there is no doubt the Ukrainian forces are receiving weapons.
“So your plan is to use missiles to deliver fuel...”
C’mon. I hope you can do better than this. The missiles are not to deliver fuel. They are to get everyone away from the area so the fuel can be delivered if needed. The missiles also take out strategic locations of enemy and resources for them as well. If Putin wanted to level most, if not all, of the city, he has the firepower to do it and can chip away targets keeping the locals unable to resist. And that is an option he has already demonstrated he can do.
The only reason he hasn’t is that he wants the city as in tact as possible for petroleum commerce and the people to run it invited back when they are homeless. It’s all part of war.

If you listened to Putin’s statement from either last night or this morning which I did then you heard him say that the neo Nazis in Kharkov were not letting people leave even though he had opened a corridor. He further said that these same people were forcing residents of high rise buildings down to the lower two floors and installing machine gun nests and mortars in the upper levels. That would sync with the few photos showing the upper levels of some buildings having been shelled.
They’re called human shields when Zelensky is putting military hardware in the center of residential blocks and handing out AK-47s to whomever will handle one
