Here’s an opportunity for a clever entrepreneur. Design a collapsible bicycle in the trunk that can generate electricity while being pumped, that can double as a tire jack, and can be converted into a regular bike. If your EV runs out of battery power, you can pump away on your generator bike and recharge your vehicle.
I don’t think you will survive long enough to get a charge.
That’s a great idea unless you live on the coast and are trying to bug out because a hurricane is bearing down on you....not to mention the accompanying probability of tornadoes.

I don’t care how many sit-ups you did this morning.....if you get hit with a VOLVO it ain’t gonna matter”

Why not have a trunk full of hamsters on wheels ? They you can relax...

Don’t know why they haven’t figured out a way to add small Sterling Power generators to help recharge. All you is a good heat differential and there is plenty of friction and during the day sunlight that can be focus. No peddling required.
Technological advancements would have to be made to make them lighter, but nobody really tried to make them more efficient and less bulky.
A good marathon runner puts out about a tenth of a KW continuously during the run. If you could put out that power pedaling, it would take you the same time as running 292 marathons (1,300 hours) back to back to fully charge the battery.

LOL! HAHA!
Just like the ESPN commercial where Lance Armstrong is powering the building pedaling a trainer.
ROTFLMAO!
