Who Is Responsible for the Death of Matthew Perna?
American Greatness ^ | 28 Feb, 2022 | Julie Kelly

For the first time in over a year, Joe Biden’s Justice Department has nothing to say about a January 6 defendant.

Matthew Perna’s heartbroken family will say goodbye to him this week.

After more than a year of enduring nonstop torment by the U.S. Justice Department, the D.C. District Court, and the news media over his minor involvement in January 6, Perna, 37, hanged himself in his garage on Friday night.

His funeral is scheduled for Wednesday.

In a loving yet raw obituary, his family minced no words about who they hold responsible for his suicide:

Matthew Lawrence Perna died on February 25, 2022 of a broken heart. His community (which he loved), his country, and the justice system killed his spirit and his zest for life. He attended the rally on January 6, 2021 to peacefully stand up for his beliefs. He entered the Capitol through a previously opened door (he did not break in as was reported) where he was ushered in by police. He didn’t break, touch, or steal anything. He did not harm anyone, as he stayed within the velvet ropes taking pictures. For this act he has been persecuted by many members of his community, friends, relatives, and people who had never met him. Many people were quietly supportive, and Matt was truly grateful for them. The constant delays in hearings, and postponements dragged out for over a year. Because of this, Matt’s heart broke and his spirit died, and many people are responsible for the pain he endured.

As I explained in my column Sunday, Matthew Perna did nothing wrong on January 6. He entered an open door manned by two Capitol police officers who did not attempt to stop him or hundreds of other innocent Americans from going inside the building.

The FBI and inJustice system treated him much worse than a BLM arsonist. Have they done anything to BLM arsonists?

This soul murder is as great a crime as the 1/6/21 physical murder by the trigger-happy Capitol police officer.

I keep wondering about the DC cops who let all those people in. What was their motive? Three possibilities have occurred to me: (1) they were bowing to the inevitable and trying to avoid further damage and violence; (2) they supported the demonstrators and did not feel they posed a security threat; or (3) they were luring innocent people inside to create the impression of a vast mob of "insurrectionists" and inflate the arrest statistics.

I have no solid basis on which to select among those options.

Who wants to live in a Soviet Show Trial Communist Country? …where peaceful protestors are insurrectionists, and violent criminals are celebrated and protected?

Well, you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink #3.

One final question about the DC cops who let the protesters in: Was that their own decision, or were they acting under orders? If acting under orders, whose orders? If acting on their own initiative, why were not any of them subjected to discipline or termination? Or were they?

A crime committed by Nancy Pelosi, no one else to blame.

What was their motive?

(4.) The D.C. cops who opened the entrance doors and set the up the interior walkways for the visiting public were doing what they have routinely done over past years and were not a part of Pelosi's plan to short circuit the statutorily mandated Special Session which was called to allow both branches of Congress to object to or confirm the presidential election.

If limited to the three options you provide, the circumstantial evidence suggests (3)

Matthew Perna did nothing wrong on January 6

From the perspective of the DOJ and Biden supporters, simply supporting Trump was enough. That is what our nation has become with Democrats in control.

I’ve been stewing over this tragedy ever since I first read about it here. This article tells even more: the shunning of him by his associates, even his serious girlfriend because the vengeful prosecutors made him out to be a monster. And the way things were dragged on just to make him suffer. I suppose he racked up a boatload of legal fees to boot. And the possibility of serious prison time? Unimaginable. If only the pricks had consciences, I would wish them to carry the shame to their graves.
