“So if you refuse to take a low-end job you’re standing up for yourself but when a Millennial does the same it’s because s/he has a “dead butt”?

I swear sometimes the jokes about Boomers’ double standards write themselves.”

This “boomer” started washing dishes at his dad’s restaurant when he was 12 years old. My social security wage records start when I was 13. At 18 I enlisted in the Navy and retired at 20 years. Then I worked in the private sector for 21 years before really retiring. Us boomers took low end jobs when it was our time to take low end jobs. Now I’m enjoying the fruits of my 50 years of productive work and I will not return to a low end job. It sounds like it may be your turn for that.

Yup. Expect prices to rise at Target pretty substantially very soon.

I am retired EVERYTHING under Brandon has become so damned expensive I went back to work for 20 hours a week!! My employer starts at $18.00 an hour PLUS I was able to cancel my supplemental Medicare coverage and get the supplemental through the employer for 1/4 the cost!! MOST businesses are having a horrible time finding employees I just don’t get it how are these younger people surviving without jobs!! I moved out of my parents house at 18 and got my own apartment!! I realize that apartments today are really expensive but GEEZE to not want to work at all!! My employer keeps asking me to take on more hours but I want to be happy at work and I get tired, I am FAR FROM 20 years old! These kids living at home could be stashing a bucket of money working full time wages right now are FAR ABOVE minimum wage!!

At least some young people hesitate about taking service jobs because of Covid. Here’s an example. I was at a pharmacy about six months ago, and the girl behind the counter was almost in tears as she waited on me. I asked her what was wrong, and she said she was risking her life by taking this job.

She was gone the next day, and I haven’t seen her since.

Who knows why she felt that way? Maybe it was the media hysteria over Covid. Maybe a friend of hers - or a relative - was very sick with the virus.

Was going to post the price of bread will go up but there’s $8 soup.

Wally World has raised the price of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup 12% the past nearly two years. Who’s income has gone up 12% to compensate the difference?

Millennials who work low-wage jobs are called useless slackers while those who are moving on to better things are called entitled for not working those same low-wage jobs. Those are the double standards to which I was referring. There is simply no pleasing some people.

Jan 20. 2025. Trump takes office and 3 days later the GOP congress passes a welfare ‘reform’ act eliminating it. Trump signs it on Feb 1, the first day of Black History Month.

“Millennials who work low-wage jobs are called useless slackers”

Not by me or any other “boomer” that I know of. I am quite happy to see my nephew stocking shelves at Target, and my son, despite having a double associates degree in auto and diesel mechanics, working as an oil changer because no matter what they say shops aren’t putting people working on cars with no experience. People who DON’T work are useless slackers. Maybe you have a guilty conscience or something.

Being in the older generation, I have lived through smallpox, chicken pox, measles, mumps, polio, Hong Kong Flu, H1N1, Bird Flu, and EVERY damn virus that had swept this country for the last 72 years!! They NEVER locked us down, put masks on our faces, closed our businesses, and CREATED such hysteria!!…What the media has done to this country is criminal, the fact that people are this weak minded makes me sick to my stomach!! THANK GOD this was not the generation of WW2.
