I have one of those buttons.

I freely admit that I have always wanted to push it.
I was working in a secure facility somewhere,

One day some dudes showed up and said there was a .05% chance that if there was an emergency and someone had to push the button that it would not work.

This is likely nothing more than a bluff by Putin. Intended to escalate the anxiety of those opposed to him. His Russkie forces have not been able to simply walk into Kyiv and slice through them like a hot knife through warm butter as he anticipated.
So, he is escalating his rhetoric to intimidate and cause anxiety. And, nothing is more intimidating than the threat of Nucular (G.W.Bush) conflict.
Putin underestimated Ukraine’s determination to defend itself. He thought they would be a soft target and his army would just roll in and take control with little opposition.
Not.
Now, his puppet state Belarus, a muslim dominated culture, ironically, aiding a guy that attempts to portray himself as a Christian savior in his attempt to co-opt Ukraine.
