I suspect a lot more weapons make it to Ukraine than we know of, considering the level of their resistance. And perhaps that’s part of the reason Putin chose to strike now.

Don't forget that then Vice President Al Gore was put in charge of helping Russia restructure both politically and economically after the fall of the Soviet Union. Gore undermined the young Russian economists who wanted to convert their economy to a free-market system. Gore's treachery led to the oligarchs and eventually opened the door for Putin's ascendancy.
