The protests are pouring in.
Hundreds of liquor stores and bars across the U.S. and Canada are removing Russian vodka and other Russian-made alcoholic beverages from their shelves in protest of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
After weeks of warnings from Western leaders, Russia unleashed a three-pronged assault of Ukraine from the north, east and south on Thursday, in an attack that threatened to upend Europe's post-Cold War order.
Liquor stores in the provinces of Manitoba and Newfoundland said they were removing Russian spirits, while Ontario, Canada's most populous province, also directed the Liquor Control Board Of Ontario to withdraw all Russian products. Meanwhile, in the U.S., videos circulated on social media of bars and liquor stores emptying their Russian vodka and removing bottles from their shelves in a show of solidarity with Ukraine.
'Ontario joins Canada's allies in condemning the Russian government's act of aggression against the Ukrainian people and we strongly support the federal government's efforts to sanction the Russian government,' Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy said in a statement.
'The people of Ontario will always stand against tyranny and oppression.'
More than 700 stores across the province will remove Russian-imported products, which include Stoli Vodka, Russian Standard Original Vodka, Beluga Noble Russian Vodka, Karkov Vodka and Zyr Vodka. Smirnoff, while founded in Moscow, is owned and produced by U.K. company Diageo.
Canada imported C$4.8 million (US$3.78 million) worth of alcoholic beverages from Russia in 2021, according to Statistics Canada (Statscan) data. That is down 23.8 percent from C$6.3 million in 2020. Vodka is the second most popular spirit among Canadian consumers after whiskey, Statscan said.

I couldnt agree more.
On a thread this morning they were laughing at the Chechens Putin may be sending into the Ukraine, or already there.
Those bastards are as bad as these bastards.

They think this is some kind of sporting event I guess.
If you dare, and I am serious here, go watch the movie Come and See. It used to be on youtube. I have watched a lot of bloody war movies and this one shocked me to the core.
WW2 German army veterans who watched it in the theaters actually got up and admitted that things like that happened.
BS.
I actually saw it a couple of nights ago. Movies like that make you really feel the pain - especially due to the war crimes that took place. There are deep rooted animosities from past cruelties. Do people realize the possible sort of revenge they are cheering on? The fleeting sanctimonious behaviors is not just far from respectful, it’s childish, and naive.
Don’t forget these separatists. There has been cruelty on both sides. That’s why I think everyone should listen to Putin’s recent speech. I don’t agree with what’s taking place. But, I think it could have been prevented had we listened to him better.

Stop, stop parroting Putin’s propaganda. A “Nazi” state does not elect a Jewish President. Oh, remember the Holdomor. ;)
I’m not parroting anyone’s propaganda. Because all we get is one sided propaganda, I would like to hear what others say. Whether it is propaganda as well, you are doing yourself no favors by limiting your information.
And nobody said a Nazi state. You need to calm down. There are factions that are hostile in the separatist areas. And they are are self proclaimed nazis. I assume they are like antifa running around. But organized. You’d be naive to think otherwise.
This is just so much knee-jerk stupidity. Are we going to stop listening to Tchaikovsky? Rachmaninoff? Are we going to stop reading Tolstoy? Turgenev?
It was pretty obvious.
Russian Vodka always gave me a headache. Actually I’m glad they are doing this I’m a Lemonade Lucy.
Hey! We don't use that kind of profanity around here.
Waaiiiit. Noooooooo!
Don’t buy ANYTHING Russian. Including vodka.
I was in a local Wine and Spirits store today and saw staff pulling bottles of Karkov vodka off the shelf. Turns out Karkov vodka is made in Minnesota and only has a phony Russian name. Staff had to reshelve the stuff when someone finally figured it out.
During WW-I sauerkraut was renamed liberty cabbage to stick it to the Kaiser. I suppose Moscow Mule cocktails will have to similarly renamed. The renaming will be daunting as the new name must sufficiently woke and not offend any of the 57 genders
Our governor just joined in the stupidity...
Gov. Greg Abbott asks Texas retailers to take all Russian products off their shelves

Putz. And I am rooting for Ukraine but this is stupid, stay in your lane, Governor!
Titos is a really great vodka.
And I'm eagerly awaiting the day when stores stop selling Red Chinese imports:
If they're actually doing things that way, then THEY are the ones who should be boycotted.
