I hate when they confuse the Belgian Malinois with the German Shepard breed.
Malinois are larger and have a lot more bulk. Guided fur missiles.

Insanely intelligent, they are used in police work because they can make decisions on protecting their handler and innocents, and used in subduing criminals on the run. Trained to cause mayhem and literally go through windows and into danger most have a 'play' area where they can be as destructive as they want.

Capable of running at 45mph+, they will run down any 2 legged creature trying to get away, and when they get a hold of something or someone, they will not let go until commanded.

If Talmika had stopped fighting, the dog would have just held her, but the more you struggle, the harder the dog clamps down.

Case dismissed.

If you want a breed that will be a constant guard for your children, the Malinois is perfect. Especially the females.

You have that backwards.

Shepherds are bigger and bulkier.

You can also kiss the grass in your backyard goodbye and resign yourself to having a mud pit for a backyard. 😀

They have a photo in the story. It's a German Shepherd. Shepherds are more substantial/heavier than Mals. A “Mal” that's bigger than a Shepherd is probably a crossbreed. They do that in Europe to get big Ringsport dogs.
Mals are fast but not 45 mph (that's whippet speed), more like 35 mph for a really fast one. No human is outrunning either one.
Both make good family dogs but everything depends on the owner. Neither should be owned by marshmallow people who don't believe in discipline and training. Mals especially need outlets for the energy (dog sports competitions like agility, obedience etc.). They want interesting stuff to do, definitely not couch potatoes.

If Talmika had stopped fighting...

Since these types of situations (struggling when subjected to force) come up quite often, how exactly do you stop struggling when a dog is clamping down on your head or the like (causing physical pain)? I don't think a Zen master could do that. Just sayin', mind you.
