Lovely back story on Persephone.
Her dad, Zeus, raped her, then she married the Devil in the Underworld...
That’s Greek mythology for you. And Egyptian is pretty out there too.
The only thing right is that she might have been Zeus's daughter but likely she predated Zeus entirely.
Hades, her uncle, kidnapped and raped her. Persephone refused to eat and drink in the underworld. Ceres, her mother, made all the plants on earth die until her daughter was returned. Zeus ordered Hades to return Persephone to Ceres, but Persephone, distracted by the joy of returning to earth, ate a few pomegranate seeds, and this was taken for partial consent. Persephone must return to Hades for a few months every year, Ceres grieves, the plants die, and winter is here.
Not a good backstory for a name.
