Gael Monfils has revealed his withdrawal from recent tournaments is due to a probable adverse reaction to his third dose of coronavirus vaccine.
The Frenchman has not played since a one-sided loss to Swede Mikael Ymer in Montpellier three weeks ago and will not represent his country in Davis Cup next week.
Monfils, 35, is hoping he will be able to return for the Masters tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami next month.
Writing on Twitter, Monfils said: 'Hello everyone, I wanted to give you some news following my recent withdrawals from tournaments. I suffered a small health glitch (probably following my third dose of vaccine).
'On the advice of my doctor, I decided to take some time to rest. So unfortunately I will not be able to play the Davis Cup next week. I hope to be able to return in the United States.'
Monfils, ranked 25, made a strong start to the season, winning his first title for two years in Adelaide and then reaching the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.
He is the second French player to be forced off court after a suspected adverse reaction to a coronavirus vaccine.
Jeremy Chardy, now ranked 138, has not played a match since the US Open last summer.
Novak Djokovic, who is playing his first tournament of the season in Dubai this week, is the only unvaccinated player in the men's top 100.

I do not make the rules about who can and who can not attend certain events. Again, my ONLY point remains since these vaccines STATISTICALLY are a big nothing burger, I see no point in avoiding the jabs and miss out on things I like doing, such as cruises.
No one, not any human, currently knows the long term effects of the vaccine. You’re old so probably none that will effect you, but people from age 5 and up will find out.
It might be very little to terrible and anywhere in between.
If the vaccine actually works, no one should care about who is and isn’t vaccinated.
It’s freedom and principles.
Dr. Ryan Cole runs a number of testing clinics here in Idaho, and has for many years. He has stated that some confirmed cancers are running x3, x4 and even a couple as high as x12 the rates over the past dozen plus years.
Just wait. Soon someone you know will become an anecdote, and you will believe that “well, a third of the population gets cancer anyway.”
If true then America is finished. Because with over 250,000,000 Americans already jabbed, and if cancer sky rockets X12 times, we are doomed. By the way 250 million is almost 4 times bigger than number of votes president Trump received in either run.
Well, with all due respect, your risk/reward ratio at age 82 is much different than folks decades younger.

I do not be-little NOTHING. Read my posts again, this time with brain in focus. My only point always has been that these vaccines are a big nothing burger based on PERSONAL experience. If you do not want to hear about my personal experience 13 months after the first jab, do not read my posts.
And my second point always has been, the vaccines should be 100% voluntary without government mandates, AND those who wish to skip the vaccines PLEASE do so. Because these vaccines are in huge demand world wide in poorer countries, and we can donate your quota to them.
Someone posts a warning about real effects of harmful injections and the government mandates that contribute to them and you repeatedly opt to comment that the injections didn't harm you and are a big "nothing burger".

Again, the jabs have no government mandates. If you think they are dangerous, just skip them. This is NOT same as compulsory draft sending young boys to Vietnam meat grinder.
