They’re hiding behind “results lack statistical significance.” I think this was intentional. In the study design, they need to estimate the effect, and then power the study (number of subjects) so that the results are significant.
The effect seems to be there but there weren’t enough test subjects for the results to be significant (ie, not attributable to chance).
