Wow harsh. Poor guy.
A really outdoorsy gal I used to hang out with all the time had a story that she had signed up and paid for skydiving lessons, and on her very first dive - not tandem - something went wrong with her chute. She got it mostly pulled out so she didn’t fall straight down. She was conscious after landing but very dazed. She said all she could think of is the instructions that if you miss the target you should start picking up your chute immediately so she started staggering around gathering the chute up.
Some people in a car came screeching tires: They had seen her landing and supposed they would find a dead body in a rather gross condition. They were astounded to find her up and walking around. She didn’t sustain any major injuries.
She didn’t have any further desire to go skydiving after that, however.
No getting back on that horse.
