Not really. The camouflage and firearm is the only thing needed to establish imminent lethal threat.
optics would be just about the most if not the only visible object from a distance (opposing sniper), so you would simply have a better chance of surviving their initial attempt at taking you out.
(i.e. once the building is surrounded they just take a pot shot at you to get you to retreat)
