Aubrey grabbed the shotgun barrel. That all they needed for stand your ground. He could have just complied and made a counter charge when the cops showed up. He fought, he lost. Murder has to be premeditated, it wasn’t. It was self defense and you can’t tell me if someone trying to get a gun from you, that you wouldn’t do the same thing.
What would you do “trapped like a rat”? Stand your ground is self defense only, when you’re the aggressor, which they were, it doesn’t apply. Why would he comply? What reason would he have to think that these guys that chased him down in multiple vehicles, had bumped him with at least one, and again “trapped like a rat” wouldn’t just kill him anyway. You’re damn right he fought. And so would any reasonable person. It’s not self defense when you start the fight. I would never start a confrontation like that, I’m not an idiot. These guys are idiots. And murderers.

I suggest you talk to a lawyer about what Stand Your Ground allows - and do NOT carry a gun until you learn!
The three musketeers had no legal authority to be where they were. They had no legal authority to do what they did. If Aubrey had killed Travis, Michael and Roddy would have been charged with felony murder. Roddy injected himself in the situation when he attempted to impede Aubrey’s escape from the MacMichaels. Before one starts chasing people with guns and pointing guns at people, one should insure that one has legal authority to do that. There is a guy from Clearwater , Florida that is standing his ground every day inside the fence at one of Florida’s Correctional Institutions because he proked a fight with someone. Shot and killed him. And started yelling when the Police came, “I was standing my ground”. First the Police disagreed with him. Then a jury disagreed with him. And last but not least a Judge disagreed with him and arranged hin to be a guest of the State for around 30 years with free room, board, and meals.
