New Zealand defender Meikayla Moore scored three goals - for the US women’s national team – as the Americans won 5-0 on Sunday in the second round of matches in the SheBelieves Cup.
The US, who drew with the Czech Republic 0-0 in their tournament opener on Thursday, got all the help they needed thanks to Moore’s own goals in the fifth, sixth and 36th minutes.
The US took over from there. Ashley Hatch made it 4-0 in the 51st with a header that was set-up by Sofia Huerta, and Mallory Pugh scored in the third minute of second-half stoppage time.

And I think on the header, it doesn’t look like she ever saw the ball, and it bounced off her head. You’re right. In each case, NZ looked like the attackers moving toward the goal. Not a good place to be.
Yup. It’s one thing for a defender to block a shot when she’s standing with her back to the goal and playing shots coming at her. It’s another thing when the whole defense is hustling to get back and the defender is trying to deflect shots angling in from behind while her own momentum is carrying her into the goal. NZ just gave a clinic on why most teams bunker in against the U.S.
Clash got a Hunter Biden painting too?
